This is a delicious and filling smoothie with plenty of plant based protein. I feel so energetic and level after having one that I thought I would do a post on this recipe. Cherries are one of the best things made by nature that you can put in your body, especially prior to intense workouts. Studies on long distance runners have shown that cherries may have a protective effect on reducing muscle damage and pain during strenuous exercise.
What else are they good for?
- They have been shown to improve memory function
- Sleep aid – They contain melatonin which is a hormone that regulates sleep cycles
- They have been found in a University of Michigan study to lower all the overall risk factors for heart disease, including inflammation, body fat, and cholesterol.
- People who suffer from mild to severe arthritis can benefit from eating them regularly because the anthocyanins in the cherries reduce pain related to arthritis inflammation.

For a perfect smoothie
Blend all ingredients except ice until smooth. The raisins will take a minute of two to get smooth.
Dip your finger in and make sure you feel a smooth texture.
Add ice and blend for 30 seconds or so. Result should be a medium thick smoothie. Over icing it will result in a kinda snow cone type consistency. Avoid that if possible.
